Cerne Giant by Night
Rufus
With my gallery closed, I have managed to visit some mysterious locations to record the landscape. I am now painting a series: 'Stretches of the Imagaination'.
This work describes the Iron Age chalk hill figure 'Giant of Cerne' in Dorset. This hill figure cut into the chalk may be Romano British or earlier. Records begin about 500 years ago. But with all Neolithic sites we are speculating. Once there were many hill figures on the British landscape.
